India’s fielding performance was poor at the start of their defense against Pakistan during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash, with some sloppy bowling and fielding performance as the bowlers failed to put the ball in the right position. But Deepti Sharma got the momentum in their favor with a fabulous run-out.

The Fatima Sana-led side was at a decent position of 72/3 at the halfway stage of the 171-run chase against the blue brigade, who needed to dismiss the Pakistan opener, Muneeba Ali, who was on a roll with a few big shots around the park.

The run-out: Deepti Sharma hits the stumps direct to send Muneeba Ali packing

It was the fifth delivery of the eleventh over from Shreyank Patil. Natalia Pervaiz shimmed down the ground against the tossed up delivery to drive it down the ground as the outside edge of the bat moved into the left of the backward point fielder.

Deepti Sharma moved across and gathered the ball. She aimed and hit the bullseye at the wicket-keeper’s end. Muneeba was short of her ground as Pakistan faced a massive blow with the wicket. Deepti took her tome and set herself up before the direct hit.

That small pause from Deepti made the difference and allowed her enough time to take aim and hit the target. The batter went back to the dressing room for 41 runs off 35 balls with five boundaries.

"I am very grateful. I like these kinds of wickets; all credit goes to the team, and I am very grateful. Hanuman Ji is great. I like ICC tournaments, I think, from there I started, so I like it.Deepti said after the end of the game.
