The Indian Mixed Disability team earned a massive 118-run victory over England at the historic Lord’s cricket ground on August 20, triggering a recreation of the famous celebration of waving the shirt at the Lord’s balcony, once done by their former captain, Sourav Ganguly.

Ganguly took off his shirt and waved it after the Blue Brigade completed a massive and remarkable chase of 326 runs on the back of a famous partnership between Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif that won the 200 NatWest Trophy final against Nasser Hussain’s England side.

The players of the mixed disability Indian side took a leaf out of Ganguly’s book. Some of them celebrated the victory by taking off their blazer and shirt. It was a superb sight to watch them celebrating with dominance as the video went viral on social media platforms.

The actual start of the celebration for Ganguly came at the start of 2002 when Andrew Flintoff’s superb bowling saw them win the sixth ODI of the bilateral series against the Indian side at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and the all-rounder was waving the shirt in the middle of the ground.

Years after the celebration, Ganguly’s wife, Dona, revealed that the legendary batter felt that he shouldn’t have taken off his shirt. The former captain, however, has a fine memory of the celebration.

I think it’s just wonderful because you always break the rule. It’s such a proper place, and even Sourav said I shouldn’t have done that – it just came out. But I think it was a fantastic gesture. I enjoyed it! All the Bengalis do.Dona told the IPL side, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Their captain, Majid Magray, also nailed an extraordinary knock of unbeaten 63 runs off 19 balls, while the opening batter, Sai Akash, played a key knock of 48 runs off 38 deliveries.

The England batters had no answer to the Indian bowling. Hilal Ahmad Wanin returned with figures of 4/21 in his four overs, while Jayesh Parmar ended up with 3/14 in his couple of overs to bundle out the England side for 88 runs in 13.4 overs.
