Watch: Lungi Ngidi hospitalized after scary head injury during DC vs PBKS clash in IPL 2026
The pacer, Lungi Ngidi, has been hospitalized after taking a scary head injury during the clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 between DC and PBKS.

Injuries remain a part and parcel of the game, but sometimes these injuries can be nasty and create a massive fear among the fans, and the same picture took place during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Delhi Capitals posted a massive score of 264 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to the unbeaten knock of 152 runs from KL Rahul, before the Punjab openers shouldered them to a flying start with the bat.
Lungi Ngidi stretchered out after sustaining a head injury in IPL 2026
On the third delivery of the third over, Priyansh Arya smashed Axar Patel for a massive shot straight down the ground. Lungi Ngidi was stationed at that position. But he made a mess of it and landed very badly on his head. He was down for a long time and didn’t look good.
The lanky fielder backtracked and never looked like taking the catch, and had to stretch himself backwards and didn’t get a fingertip on it. But he fell hard, and it didn’t look good at all.

There were concerned faces in the Delhi Capitals’ camp as the stretcher came out for the player. The physio and doctor had a look at the pacer. The entire ground was silent after the shocking incident. Ngidi didn’t respond to the doctor for a long time, which wasn’t a good sign for head injuries.
Hemang Badani, the DC coach, suggested placing the neck brace before the ambulance came onto the ground. All the players and coaching staff were shocked as the player was finally stretchered out into the ambulance and taken to the hospital. Dushmantha Chameera came into the ground as a substitute and seemed to be replacing Ngidi in the eleven.
PBKS made rollicking start to chase 265
In the first four overs of the chase, Punjab smashed 83 runs for no damage as the required rate came down to 11.38. In the first legal 24 balls, the opening stand of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh smashed 10 sixes and looked to be on track with the chase.
