The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 saw one of the scariest injuries in recent times in the Delhi Capitals (DC) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) match. DC bowler Lungi Ngidi hit his head on the ground while trying to catch a ball and was seriously injured. The medical team had to rush into the field to check him. While he did respond to the on-field doctors, an ambulance came into the stadium to take the player to the hospital.

The incident left the crowd and the players stunned and scared. Ngidi, who looked still throughout, was then rushed to the nearby hospital. The incident occurred during the second innings when he was fielding near the boundary line. The players, including his South African teammate David Miller, looked concerned as they were standing near him throughout.

Delhi Traffic Police create green corridor to rush Lungi Ngidi to hospital

Delhi Police put in a magnificent effort today as they created a green corridor to rush bowler Lungi Ngidi to the hospital. He was taken from Kotla to Max Hospital, Rajendra Nagar, in just 11 minutes, which is commendable. ACP Traffic Central District Sanjay Singh initiated this and was successful in taking the player to the hospital.

The ambulance reportedly covered the distance in just 11 minutes, a crucial factor in ensuring immediate medical attention. Such a quick response highlights the importance of efficient emergency systems during high-profile sporting events. The effort by the Delhi Traffic Police has been widely appreciated, showcasing their preparedness and commitment to public safety during critical situations.

IPL provides update on Lungi Ndigi injury

IPL has released a statement regarding Ngidi's injury. They have stated that he is stable and will be discharged from the hospital soon. After returning from the hospital, he will be under strict observation. For now, there is no official confirmation on whether he will play in the next match or not. The fans will have to wait for an update from the franchise or the IPL.

"He was shifted to the hospital in an ambulance as he complained of a headache and neck pain," IPL organisers said in a statement. "Ngidi is stable and is due to be discharged shortly from the hospital."
