Will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi be banned after fight with Sri Lanka A players in Tri Series 2026?
Will the left-handed opening batter of the India A side, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, be banned after his heated fight with the Sri Lanka A players during the Tri-series 2026 in Dambulla?

Just after the final delivery of the super over between India A and Sri Lanka A was bowled during the fourth clash of the Tri-Nation series 2026 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, the home players started their wild celebration as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got engaged in a heated spat with the home players.
As the players celebrated, a few heated words were exchanged towards Sooryavanshi, who was upset with something. That brought the anger out of him towards one of the fielders as his partner, Suryansh Shedge, tried to calm the 15-year-old down by dragging him out of the discussion.
Sooryavanshi shoved a Sri Lanka A player after super over loss — Dickwella had to step in
It looked like something had been said by one of the Sri Lanka players. As Suryansh tried to stop Suryavanshi and turn him back, there was a verbal spat provoked by the home team. Vishen Halambage was clapping and saying a few provocative words.
The Bihar-born, kind of, charged at Suryansh, as another fielder almost bumped into the latter. Because of this, even Vaibhav had to get involved to support his partner. The left-handed batter then pushed Vishen away with his left hand, after which experienced Niroshan Dickwella immediately separated the duo as the captain Sahan also tried to calm down the situation.

The Sri Lanka A support staff exchanged handshakes with the Indian A players and themselves. But they were unaware of the altercation in the middle before getting a puzzled look as to what exactly had happened. Vaibhav, while walking off, turned back and gave a few words back with a pointed hand to someone in the field.
India A vs Sri Lanka A is not an ICC match — Here's who actually has the power to ban Sooryavanshi
The A games, like this encounter between India A and Sri Lanka A in Dambulla, don’t come directly under the ICC’s tournament umbrella. They come under the classification of List A and first-class games and are strictly organized and administered by the individual bilateral cricket boards (like the BCCI, ECB, and CA) rather than the ICC.

Because they involve the national boards, they fall under the jurisdiction of the ICC’s playing regulations and the anti-corruption codes, even though the ICC doesn’t host or schedule them.
Will Sooryavanshi play vs Afghanistan A on June 17?
The A-tours serve as the primary developmental pathway for the young cricket players to transition from domestic cricket into full international play. In that case, Sooryavanshi isn’t expected to get banned for the next encounter, which will be between India A and Afghanistan A on June 16 in Dambulla.
