Virat Kohli created another world record when he played against Australia in the semi finals of the Champions Trophy 2025. On March 4, he scored his 24th fifty plus score in ICC ODI tournaments. He obliterated the previous record of 23 set by Indian star Sachin Tendulkar. This achievement is even more impressive when compared head to head with Tendulkar, who achieved this record in 58 innings while Kohli managed it in just 53.

An Important Performance When Needed Most

While chasing a total of 265 runs, India faced two quick wickets, both Shubman Gill and then captain Rohit Sharma after the fifth over. However, Kohli partnered effectively with Shreyas Iyer and constructed a convincing score of 91 runs. Shreyas also played well and reached his half century on 53 balls which helped India remain hopeful.
