Team India suffered a major setback ahead of the third and deciding ODI against England at Lord's as star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the match. The 32-year-old missed the series decider after suffering a knee injury during the second ODI in Cardiff.

India captain Shubman Gill confirmed Bumrah's absence at the toss. Soon after, the BCCI shared an official update, stating that the pacer picked up an impact injury while fielding in Cardiff, which led to reactive swelling in his left knee. As a result, he was not available for selection.

Before the toss, Bumrah was seen talking with Gill and senior batter Virat Kohli, raising questions about his availability. The fast bowler played the first two ODIs of the series and claimed two wickets before being ruled out of the final match.

India captain Shubman Gill confirmed at the toss that Jasprit Bumrah was unavailable for the third and final ODI against England at Lord's due to a knee injury. "Boom misses out due to a knee injury," Gill said before the match.

The BCCI later issued an official statement, saying, "Jasprit Bumrah had an impact injury on his left knee while fielding in the second ODI in Cardiff. Bumrah had only recently returned to international cricket after a break of more than a month following IPL 2026. He missed India's one-off Test and ODI series against Afghanistan, as well as the T20I series against Ireland and England. The first ODI against England on July 14 marked his first 50-over international since the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Who replaces Bumrah in India's playing XI today?

England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final ODI at Lord's. India made three changes to their playing XI, with Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube missing the match. KL Rahul returned after recovering from illness, while Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav were included in the team.

At the toss, India captain Shubman Gill confirmed the changes and said, "We were bowling first. We have got three changes. Boom misses out; he's unavailable due to a knee injury. And so is Washington Sundar. Dube also misses out. KL comes in, Prince Yadav comes in, and Arshdeep comes back into the team."
