During a recent interaction, the once-premier spinner of the Indian side, Yuzvendra Chahal, revealed a terrifying story from the 2013 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he was part of the Mumbai Indians (MI). He featured in just one game during the season and returned with figures of 0/34 in his four overs.

Chahal is currently out of the Indian side. He is doing the commentary for Star Sports in the home bilateral series of the Indian side. The leg spinner recently retired from first-class cricket, with his last encounter coming during the County Championship 2026 for Northants.

What Yuzvendra Chahal revealed about the frightening IPL 2013 incident

Chahal has opened up for the third year, twice came in 2022, about the instances of physical harassment when he was a new member of the IPL. He revealed that a player dangled him from the 15th floor after getting drunk.

“This incident happened during IPL 2013, when I was part of Mumbai Indians. After a match in Bengaluru, the team was having a party. One player had consumed too much alcohol and dangled me from the hotel’s 15th-floor balcony.” Chahal expressed in the interview.

“I was terrified and held tightly around his neck to save myself. If my grip had slipped, I could have fallen from the 15th floor. Thankfully, others pulled me back up. I was so scared that I nearly fainted, and they gave me water to recover.” He addressed.

During the 2022 season, while speaking to Ravichandran Ashwin in the Rajasthan Royals video, Chahal reflected on the episode from 2011, talking about his MI teammates, James Franklin and Andrew Symonds, who tied him up, taped his mouth, and left him in a room.

“It happened in 2011, when Mumbai Indians won the Champions League. We were in Chennai. He [Symonds] had had a lot of 'fruit juice' (laughs). I don't know what he was thinking, but he and James Franklin got together and tied my hands and legs and said, 'No, you've to open',” The Haryana spinner added.

“They were so lost that they taped my mouth and forgot about me completely during the party. Then they all left and, in the morning, someone came to clean [the room] and saw me, and called a few others and untied me.” The Indian star concluded in that video of RR.
