In the 19-year-old IPL history, we have experienced some unforgettable batting partnerships, which destroyed the opponents' confidence. While the T20 is a very fast cricket, a giant partnership can set the tone for the team.   

There are some batters who have dominated the Indian Premier League for many years. While they have scored many runs in the IPL, some have set legacies as solid and dangerous batting partners. In the list of giant IPL partnerships, we can see some common and expected names in the top positions.

Here, we are talking about the top five highest partnerships in the history of IPL. Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and KL Rahul are dominating the top five positions in this list. 

210 for 1st wicket by Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan (Gujarat Titans) vs Chennai Super Kings in 2024 

After the visitors CSK chose to field first in that IPL 2024 fixture, Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan produced a solid partnership of 210 runs in 17.2 overs. Titans ultimately scored 231/3 in 20 overs, where Sai scored 103 off 51 balls (five fours and seven sixes) and Gill scored 104 off 55 balls (nine fours and six sixes).

210 for unbroken 1st wicket by KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Super Giants) vs Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022

After Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai hosted that IPL 2022 match, LSG chose to bat first. Captain KL Rahul and the wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock had a 2`10-run partnership for the unbroken first wicket, as they scored 210/0 in 20 overs. Rahul scored 68 not out off 51 balls (three fours and four sixes) and De Kock slammed 140 not out off 70 balls (10 fours and 10 sixes).

215 for unbroken 2nd wicket by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore) vs Mumbai Indians in 2015 

RCB chose to bat first in that away IPL 2015 game against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. After the opener Chris Gayle was dismissed cheaply for 13 runs, skipper Virat Kohli had a 215-run partnership with AB de Villiers for the unbroken second wicket. The opener Kohli scored 82 not out off 50 balls (six fours and four sixes), while De Villiers slammed 133 not out off 59 balls (19 fours and four sixes). Their batting performances helped RCB to score 235/1 in 20 overs.  

220 for 2nd wicket by KL Rahul and Nitish Rana (Delhi Capitals) vs Punjab Kings in 2026

Delhi hosted this IPL 2026 match, where Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel chose to bat first. While the DC opener Pathum Nissanka (11) was dismissed cheaply, KL Rahul and Nitish Rana had a 220-run partnership for the second wicket. While Rana scored 91 off 44 balls (11 fours and four sixes), Rahul slammed 152 not out off 67 balls (16 fours and nine sixes). These batting performances helped DC to manage the giant first innings total of 264/2 in 20 overs.

229 for 2nd wicket by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore) vs Gujarat Lions in 2016

Bengaluru hosted this IPL 2016, where Gujarat Lions chose to field first. After Chris Gayle was dismissed for only six runs, the other opener Virat Kohli and the no.3 batter AB de Villiers set a 229-run partnership for the second wicket. Skipper Kohli scored 109 off 55 balls (five fours and eight sixes) and De Villiers smashed 129 not out off 52 balls (10 fours and 12 sixes). RCB ultimately scored 248/3 in 20 overs.
