The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), have established a great and stunning identity in the competition- not just as a competitive team but also as a record-breaking side that has redefined the ceiling of how and what an aggressive T20 batting line-up can achieve with high tempo and the approach to produce some jaw-dropping numbers in the competition’s history. 

This is nowhere more evident than in their remarkable 2024 campaign, an edition of the competition that saw the Orange Army writing new records in the book every time they walk out to bat. Here is a look back at the top seven records of the Hyderabad side in IPL history, highlighting some of the most significant achievements connected with the franchise since its entry into the competition-

#1 Most 260+ totals by a team in IPL history-

Sunrisers have crossed 260+ scores five times in their IPL history, which showcased their extraordinary batting firepower. Out of those five instances, three incidents came in 2024 when they smashed 266/7 against the Delhi Capitals, besides registering 277/3 against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and 287/3 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

This was followed by their continuous aggression during the IPL 2025 when they recorded a dashing score of 278 runs for the loss of three wickets. Meanwhile, in the same edition, they claimed 286 runs for the loss of six wickets at home against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

#2 Second-highest successful run chase in IPL history-

It was the group-stage fixture between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, where the visiting side batted first and posted a massive score of 245 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to their captain Shreyas Iyer’s dashing knock of 82 runs off 36 balls, with six boundaries and as many sixes at a strike rate of 227.78.

The base was laid down by the superb opening partnership of 66 runs in 3.5 overs, where Priyansh Arya creamed 36 runs off 13 balls, thanks to four boundaries, while Prabhsimran Singh slammed 42 runs off 23 balls, thanks to seven boundaries and one six.

Hyderabad completed the chase of 247 runs by eight wickets with nine balls to spare. Abhishek Sharma drilled 141 runs off 55 balls, thanks to 14 boundaries and 10 sixes, as they recorded an opening stand of 171 runs in just 12.2 overs.

#3 Most sixes by a team in a single IPL season-

Sunrisers Hyderabad have recorded the most sixes (178) by a team during a single IPL season. That was based on 11-over boundaries on average, as the strike rate would be extremely high. In the same edition of the competition, Bengaluru found themselves in second position with 165 sixes, while Delhi Capitals smashed 135 sixes in 2024, which shows the difference between the other franchises and Hyderabad.

During the IPL 2024, Abhishek sits at the top of the table with 42 over boundaries. He nailed 484 runs in 16 innings at an average of 32.36 and a blistering strike rate of 204.21. The second position is held by Heinrich Klaasen, who cracked 38 sixes in 15 innings of the season at an aggressive strike rate of 171.07.

#4 Highest individual score for SRH-

Abhishek holds the record for the highest individual score for Hyderabad, when he dashed a thrilling knock of 141 runs against the Punjab Kings in 2025. During the very next edition of the event, he remained unbeaten on 135 runs against the Delhi Capitals. That shows the southpaw’s superb performance with the bat and how vital he has been for the franchise.

The third rank of the list goes to David Warner, who drilled 126 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017. Two years later, the right-handed batter, Jonny Bairstow, drilled 114 runs against the Bengaluru side, while Ishan Kishan stayed at the fifth position for his 106* against the Rajasthan Royals in 2025.

#5 Highest team total in IPL history-

Sunrisers came up against the Royal Challengers during the IPL 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The visitors ended up with the highest team total in the history of the IPL, which is 287/3 in their allotted 20 overs at a run rate of 14.35. Their opening batter, Travis Head, slammed 102 runs off just 41 balls with the help of nine boundaries and eight sixes at a strike rate of 248.78. 

Their number three, Heinrich Klaasen, claimed 67 runs off 31 balls at a strike rate of 216.12, with the help of two boundaries and seven sixes. Meanwhile, Aiden Markram contributed 17-ball 32 runs while Abdul Samad remained unbeaten on 37 runs off 10 balls, thanks to four boundaries and three sixes.

Bengaluru fell short of the target by 25 runs as Dinesh Karthik played a superb knock of 83 runs off 35 balls, thanks to five boundaries and seven sixes at a strike rate of 237.14, while their captain, Faf du Plessis, nailed 62 runs off 28 balls at a strike rate of 221.42.

#6 Best bowling figures for SRH in IPL history-

It was the IPL 2017 encounter between Hyderabad and Punjab in Hyderabad where the home side was restricted to 159 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with captain Warner nailing 70* runs off 54 balls, thanks to seven boundaries and a pair of sixes.

In reply, Punjab were bundled out for 154 runs in 19.4 overs as they lost the contest by five runs. Manan Vohra, while opening the innings, nailed 95 runs off 50 balls at a strike rate of 190 with nine boundaries and five sixes, while the rest of the line-up fell like a pack of cards.

Hyderabad pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned with figures of 5/19 in his four overs, while Siddarth Kaul had 1/26. Bhuvi’s wickets included Hashim Amla, Glenn Maxwell, and Vohra.

#7 Most IPL wickets for SRH-

India's Bhuvneshwar Kumar remains the leading wicket-taker of the Hyderabad side with 157 scalps in 145 innings at an average of 26.81 and a strike rate of 20.81, along with a decent economy rate of 7.71, thanks to the best bowling figures of 5/19 in an innings, including two four-wicket and as many five-wicket hauls.

The best season for Bhuvi in Hyderabad’s jersey came in 2017 when he bagged 26 wickets in 14 innings with the ball at an average of 14.19 and a fine strike rate of 12, with an economy rate of 7.05, thanks to the best figures of 5/19 in an innings. In 2016, he contributed 23 wickets at 21.30 out of 17 innings.
