Australia Women's T20 World Cup Record — 6 Titles History
Australia have won six of the nine editions in the iCC Women's T20 World Cup. This is by far the most number of titles by a team in this competition. Here is a look at how they have become the most successful team in this event's history.

Over the years, Australia have remained the most successful team in the history of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, having won six titles. In the nine editions of the 20-over event, only three teams apart from Australia have won the title: England in 2009, West Indies in 2024, and New Zealand in 2024.
Australia’s very first trophy of the tournament came in 2010 when they got the better of New Zealand. For the next two back-to-back editions, they blew away England to make it a hat-trick of trophies in the competition.
One of the most powerful sides of the world, especially in women’s cricket, Australia could have easily made it four successive titles had they not lost the final in 2016 against the West Indies in 2016 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
But after that failure, they took strong revenge on the opposition to achieve their second hat-trick of T20 World Cup titles in 2018, 2020, and 2023. In that process, they got the better of England, India, and South Africa, respectively. Now, heading into the 2026 season, they have the only ambition of recording their seventh T20 World Cup title.
Meanwhile, the Sophie Molineux-led side has earned 39 victories in 49 clashes of the Women’s T20 World Cup, which is by far the best among all the participating sides, at a jaw-dropping win-loss ratio of 4.33. Out of those, Meg Lanning was the leader of the four campaigns between 2014 and 2023.
Australia’s performance in ICC Women's T20 World Cup Editions (2009-2024)
Here is a look at how the most successful women’s side in the T20 World Cup has performed in every single edition of the competition-
#1 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2009 in England

Australia began their opening game of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup history against New Zealand at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton. They batted first to post a decent score of 123 runs for the loss of eight wickets, thanks to Lisa Sthalekar’s 46 runs off 36 balls. But Aimee Watkins’ unbeaten 73 runs saw the Kiwis complete the chase in 16.2 overs with nine wickets in hand.
A few days later, at the same venue, they faced the West Indies and earned their first-ever victory in the event with a successful 136-run chase by eight wickets as Shelley Nitschke drilled 56 runs in 38 balls. She continued her purple patch in the all-round show of 4/21 with the ball against South Africa, defending 164 runs.

A couple of days later, they faced the Proteas and gained a vital victory by 24 runs in the 155-run defense. Their batting wasn’t up to the mark in the campaign, while the bowling bailed them out of trouble on most occasions. Even against the West Indies side, they restricted the opposition to 124/7 to gain the vital nine-run win.
In the first semifinal in St Lucia, they blew away India in the 120-run chase by seven wickets before experiencing a massive challenge against the White Ferns in the final. At the Kensington Oval, Ellyse Perry held her nerve to bowl the final over and claimed the three-run win to earn their first-ever title of the tournament.
