Cricket Australia (CA) gets BCCI approval to host historic first-ever Big Bash League (BBL) 2026/27 game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In a historical news, the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will be busy in December 2026 as it will host the first-ever game of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2026/27, confirmed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). Last week of January 2026, the delegation, which was comprised of two representatives from the BBL and one functionary from the CA, was in Chennai to discuss the final planning.
“We have heard their proposal and are fully aware of our jurisdiction. The TNCA has left the matter to the BCCI. We have made it clear to the Australian delegation that without BCCI approval, the plan cannot move forward.” The TNCA informed.
The CA officials arrived at the ground during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as they got the BCCI approval on the discussion.
