Watch: Shreyas Iyer's sister hits back at trolls after PBKS's IPL 2026 Playoffs exit — "I Pity You Guys"
The Punjab Kings' captain, Shreyas Iyer's sister, Shresta, has hit back at the online trolls and abuse online and offline after the franchise failed to qualify for the IPL 2026 Playoffs.

Just 24 hours after the Punjab Kings (PBKS) were out of the Playoffs race, many fans targeted Shreyas Iyer’s sister, Shresta, over a viral banter reel at the start of the competition when their clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was washed out due to rain at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) earned a vital victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium to qualify for the Playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, as it eliminated the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) out of the competition.
What did Shreyas Iyer’s sister post? The viral response to online abuse explained
The incident has highlighted how quickly online humour in sport can turn into harassment when the results swing against a side or even an individual. Responding to the backlash, Shresta has addressed the issue in a two-part Instagram video as he clarified her original intent.

“The video that I had created earlier, you guys exaggerated it to extremes, when the motive of the reel was just a fun banter. I wasn’t trolling anyone; I had no bad intentions behind the banter. I wasn’t spreading hate against anyone. I respect every cricketer because my brother is a cricketer.” Shresta expressed on Instagram.
“I pity you guys. You have been calling my workplace, abusing me, my colleagues, my students, and my family. Harassing them and calling at random times.” She added.
The cricketer’s sister also spoke about the harassment she had to go through in both online and offline modes, including the abuse directed at her workplace and her associates.

“If you want to hate me, please continue doing that, but stop harassing people affiliated with me. I am not here to tell what is right or wrong. I will celebrate my brother—he wins or loses; I will always celebrate him.” Shresta claimed in that video.
PBKS’s IPL 2026 Playoffs exit: What went wrong for Punjab Kings?
The Punjab Kings started the IPL 2026 campaign with six victories in the first clashes, including one washed-out result, and stayed at the top of the points table for a long time. But they slipped in the middle half of the event with six consecutive defeats. Their last-match win over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) wasn’t enough to get among the top four.
India's Arshdeep Singh ends as the leading wicket-taker of the franchise in the league stage with 14 wickets in 14 innings, but at a very expensive economy rate of more than 10. Yuzvendra Chahal couldn’t show his magic either, while the other bowlers couldn’t support them.
Their fielding was the major issue as they dropped several catches at the crucial stage of the games, and that was never going to keep them in the playoffs.
