Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set to get a separate dressing room on England tour due to ICC-ECB safeguarding rules for players under 16. Read the complete news here.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to get a separate dressing room from India teammates on the England tour, where India will play a separate white-ball series against Ireland and England. The 15-year-old has been named in both the Ireland and England T20I squads, and fans are eagerly waiting for his potential international debut. His selection has already created huge excitement across Indian cricket.
Sooryavanshi has been in outstanding form in IPL 2026 and also impressed in India age-group and non-senior teams. He has quickly become one of the most talked-about young talents in Indian cricket. If he makes his debut in the upcoming series, he is expected to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record as the youngest Indian male cricketer to play international cricket.
However, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will not share the same dressing room with his India teammates during the England tour. This is due to safeguarding rules set by the ICC and the ECB for players under the age of 16. Because of these protocols, he will use separate facilities while still being part of the main squad setup.
Why is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi getting a separate dressing room? ECB's special protocol explained
According to reports, the ICC and ECB have clear safeguarding rules that apply to players under the age of 16. These rules state that young players are not allowed to use the adult changing room during matches or tours. Because of this, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will have a separate dressing room during India’s tour of England.
However, Vaibhav will still be fully involved with the team during matches. He will be allowed inside the main Indian dressing room for team meetings, discussions, and tactical sessions. But he will go to a separate facility when he needs to change before and after games.
These rules are part of standard safeguarding measures used in English cricket. Similar arrangements have been seen in other sports as well, including cases where young players like Arsenal’s Max Dowman also used separate changing facilities until they reached the required age limit.
The ECB has also confirmed that these protocols are being followed closely in coordination with the ICC. The Cricket Regulator and team officials are working with safeguarding officers at each venue to ensure all rules are properly implemented and the player’s safety and welfare are maintained throughout the tour.
15 years old, England tour, separate dressing room — The extraordinary measures India are taking for Sooryavanshi
The arrangements for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during India’s England tour include several special measures due to his age. According to reports, the Cricket Regulator is in contact with the Team Liaison Officer (TLO) of the Indian team to manage all requirements and expectations for the young player while he is in the UK. Safeguarding officers at each venue are also working closely with the team to ensure all rules are followed properly.
These arrangements are part of detailed safeguarding risk assessments carried out for the tour. Officials are ensuring that venue protocols are understood and strictly followed. Because Vaibhav is under 16, extra care is being taken to provide a safe and structured environment for him during the series.
In another special arrangement, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be accompanied by his parents on the tour. His parents will stay with him at the team hotel, which is not usual practice but has been allowed due to his age. This decision has been taken to ensure he has strong family support throughout the tour.
Earlier, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia also confirmed this arrangement. He said that having his parents travel with him would help the teenager adjust to an adult professional environment. According to him, this step has been taken to make Vaibhav more comfortable and help him focus better on his cricket without unnecessary pressure.
65 Sixes, 776 Runs, now England — Why the World cannot stop talking about 15-year-old Sooryavanshi
India have arrived in the United Kingdom for their white-ball tour, which includes series against Ireland and England. The team will first play two T20Is against Ireland on June 26 and June 28 in Belfast. After that, they will travel to England for a full white-ball series featuring five T20Is and three ODIs across different venues.
The T20I series against England will begin on July 1 at Chester-le-Street. The remaining matches will be played in Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol, and Southampton. After the T20Is, India will move into the ODI series, starting on July 14 in Birmingham, followed by matches in Cardiff and London.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been one of the biggest talking points ahead of the tour. Since his IPL debut as a 14-year-old, he has made a huge impact in world cricket. He scored 252 runs in his first IPL season at a strike rate above 200, became the youngest T20 centurion with a 38-ball hundred, and later finished as the highest run-scorer in IPL 2026 with 776 runs, breaking Chris Gayle’s record for most sixes in a season with 65.
He also prepared for this tour with strong performances for India A, including a 94 off 29 balls against Sri Lanka A. In that match, he hit the fastest List A fifty in just 11 balls. While India will also play two T20Is against Ireland before the England series, the special safeguarding rules for Sooryavanshi are expected to apply only in England, not in Belfast, as those matches fall under Cricket Ireland’s jurisdiction.
