The Indian Premier League has experienced many historic chases that will always remain very special in T20 cricket history. Unlike other T20 competitions, the recent IPL tournaments have made the 200+ totals, even 220+ totals, more comfortable to chase.
While the IPL has been played for more than 18 straight seasons, we have seen many great chases of 200+ totals. Some of these chases can't be forgotten for various reasons, including some stunning chases despite battling in unfavourable situations.

224 by Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab in 2020

In the IPL 2020 encounter in Sharjah, Kings XI Punjab scored 223/2 in 20 overs after the opener Mayank Agarwal slammed a century (106). In reply, three among the first four RR batters, captain Steven Smith (50 off 27 balls), Sanju Samson (85 off 42 balls), and Rahul Tewatia (53 off 31 balls) scored 50 or more runs, as RR chased down the target in 19.3 overs after losing six wickets.
At the end of 17 overs, Royals needed 51 runs, while Tewatia was struggling at 17 off 23 balls. However, in the 18th over, Royals suddenly came to the game strongly after Tewatia slammed five sixes to Sheldon Cottrell.
228 by Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Lucknow Super Giants in 2025

It was the last league stage game in the IPL 2025, where Rishabh Pant's century (118*) helped Lucknow Super Giants score 227/3 in 20 overs. In reply, the RCB openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli provided a strong start with a 61-run partnership in 5.4 overs. While Salt scored 30 runs, Kohli scored 54 runs, and RCB were later struggling at 123/4 in 11.2 overs. In the challenging situation, Mayank Agarwal and stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma set a firing 107-run partnership for the unbroken fifth wicket to snatch an away win. While Mayank scored 41 off 23 balls and Jitesh scored 85 off 33 balls, RCB chased down the target in 18.3 overs after losing four wickets.

Hyderabad hosted this IPL 2025 match, where captain Shreyas Iyer's brilliant batting knock of 82 off 36 balls, Punjab Kings scored 245/6 in 20 overs. In reply, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma set up a 171-run partnership for the first wicket in just 12.2 overs, as the hosts got the perfect start to chase the huge total. While Head was dismissed for 66 off 37 balls, Abhishek played a furious 141-run knock in just 55 balls, hitting 14 fours and 10 sixes. Ultimately, SRH chased down the target comfortably in 18.3 overs after losing only two wickets.
262 by Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024

In the IPL 2024, Punjab Kings chased down the 262-run target against the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata. After KKR scored 261/6 in 20 overs, majorly due to a strong opening start between Phil Salt and Sunil Narine (138-run partnership), PBKS openers started with a storm. Before the opener Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed for 54 off just 20 balls, PBKS already scored 93 runs at powerplay. While the opener Jonny Bairstow scored 108 off just 48 balls with eight fours and nine sixes, Shashank Singh remained not out for 68 off 28 balls, as Punjab Kings chased down the record target in 18.4 overs after losing two wickets.
265 by Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals in 2026

Delhi hosted this IPL 2026 match, where Delhi Capitals opener KL Rahul's incredible 152 not out off 67 balls guided the team to manage the first innings total of 264/2 in 20 overs. In reply, Punjab Kings openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh had a furious 126-run partnership for the first wicket in just 6.5 overs. While Arya scored 43 off 17 balls, Singh scored 76 off 26 balls. Later, captain Shreyas Iyer controlled the chase, as his 71 not out off 36 balls helped the visitors to chase the record target in 18.5 overs after losing four wickets.
