The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) CEO, Rajesh Memon, feels that star batter and former captain, Virat Kohli, will be with the franchise for at least the next three to four years, besides adding that they hadn’t anticipated the scenario where he would no longer be part of the RCB side, even after his playing career ends.

The Bengaluru franchise, which continued the search for an IPL trophy for the first 17 seasons of the event, earned its maiden title in 2025 before joining the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) to win back-to-back trophies in 2026, beating the Gujarat Titans in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

What did the RCB CEO say about Virat Kohli after winning IPL 2026?

Kohli, who is the leading run-getter of the IPL with 9336 runs in 275 innings at an average of more than 40 and a blistering strike rate of 135, with the help of 68 half-centuries and nine centuries at the best score of unbeaten 113 runs, is closing in on his 38th. By the start of the next cycle in 2028, he will be nearly 40.

RCB and Virat are different sides of the same coin. He has been the constant factor for RCB throughout. We have not seen him not being part of RCB even if he moves out of his cricketing career. We have to figure out.Memon expressed in the interaction.

That said, the next three to four years, I'm sure he'll be playing for at least four years. He is fit; the hunger never dies. You saw him this IPL season bring on the energy, runs, and attitude. Everything was there. Three to four years, absolutely no problem. He added.

From 741 runs to a dynasty: How Virat Kohli's IPL 2026 season finally gave RCB their crown

Kohli finished the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with 675 runs in just 16 innings at an average of more than 56 and an aggressive strike rate of 165.84, thanks to five half-centuries and one century at the best score of unbeaten 105 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Even in 2025, he collected 657 runs in 15 innings at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71, with the help of eight fifties.

I just give my heart and soul out there on the field, whether I'm fielding or batting, because it's going to finish one day. And I want to make the most of every day that I'm on the field and just enjoy myself and have a lot of fun and look forward to a pressure situation, look forward to scenarios where I'm feeling a bit of heat.Kohli said last month during the IPL 2026.

And then I challenge myself to say, you know what, just go for it. And when you cross the line, it makes you a better player. And sport, as you know, teaches you a lot as a person as well. So, you build your character slowly and surely when you keep performing under pressure. The former Indian captain revealed.

How the cricket world reacted to Kohli's IPL 2026 title win

The cricketing world, especially the fans of Kohli, have gone wild at the news of the star player's future in the league, having won the IPL 2026 title-

Over the years, Australia have remained the most successful team in the history of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, having won six titles. In the nine editions of the 20-over event, only three teams apart from Australia have won the title: England in 2009, West Indies in 2024, and New Zealand in 2024.

Australia’s very first trophy of the tournament came in 2010 when they got the better of New Zealand. For the next two back-to-back editions, they blew away England to make it a hat-trick of trophies in the competition.

One of the most powerful sides of the world, especially in women’s cricket, Australia could have easily made it four successive titles had they not lost the final in 2016 against the West Indies in 2016 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

But after that failure, they took strong revenge on the opposition to achieve their second hat-trick of T20 World Cup titles in 2018, 2020, and 2023. In that process, they got the better of England, India, and South Africa, respectively. Now, heading into the 2026 season, they have the only ambition of recording their seventh T20 World Cup title.

Meanwhile, the Sophie Molineux-led side has earned 39 victories in 49 clashes of the Women’s T20 World Cup, which is by far the best among all the participating sides, at a jaw-dropping win-loss ratio of 4.33. Out of those, Meg Lanning was the leader of the four campaigns between 2014 and 2023.

Australia’s performance in ICC Women's T20 World Cup Editions (2009-2024)

Here is a look at how the most successful women’s side in the T20 World Cup has performed in every single edition of the competition-

#1 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2009 in England

Australia began their opening game of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup history against New Zealand at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton. They batted first to post a decent score of 123 runs for the loss of eight wickets, thanks to Lisa Sthalekar’s 46 runs off 36 balls. But Aimee Watkins’ unbeaten 73 runs saw the Kiwis complete the chase in 16.2 overs with nine wickets in hand.

A few days later, at the same venue, they faced the West Indies and earned their first-ever victory in the event with a successful 136-run chase by eight wickets as Shelley Nitschke drilled 56 runs in 38 balls. She continued her purple patch in the all-round show of 4/21 with the ball against South Africa, defending 164 runs.

They moved to the semifinal against the hosts at the Kennington Oval in South London. They batted well to post a decent score of 163/5, but it wasn’t enough as the arch-rivals completed the chase by eight wickets, thanks to Claire Taylor’s 76* runs.

#2 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2010 in West Indies

Under the leadership of Alex Blackwell, Australia started its second T20 World Cup journey in less than a year. And in the very first game, they produced a tense contest against the defending champions. Both sides got bundled out for 104 before the home side lost the contest in the super over.

A couple of days later, they faced the Proteas and gained a vital victory by 24 runs in the 155-run defense. Their batting wasn’t up to the mark in the campaign, while the bowling bailed them out of trouble on most occasions. Even against the West Indies side, they restricted the opposition to 124/7 to gain the vital nine-run win.

In the first semifinal in St Lucia, they blew away India in the 120-run chase by seven wickets before experiencing a massive challenge against the White Ferns in the final. At the Kensington Oval, Ellyse Perry held her nerve to bowl the final over and claimed the three-run win to earn their first-ever title of the tournament.

In 2012, Jodie Fields was named the leader of the Australian side during the event in Sri Lanka. They began the campaign with an easy chase of 105 runs by eight wickets before gaining another victory by 25 runs in the DLS method against Pakistan, as both the clashes took place at the Galle International Stadium.

Australia slipped against the arch-rivals, England, in the 144-run defense. At the R. They won their second successive T20 World Cup in another tense final against England by four runs.

#4 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2014 in Bangladesh

Meg Lanning didn’t enjoy a great start to her captaincy in the T20 World Cup 2014 when they lost to New Zealand by seven runs at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. However, they made a clinical comeback in the 116-run chase by six wickets at the same venue.

Lanning’s blistering knock of 126 runs off 65 balls provided them a huge boost of 78 runs against Ireland, as they also blew away Pakistan by 94 runs in the very next encounter when Elyse Villani smashed an unbeaten 90 runs in 54 balls.

In Nagpur, Australia started their IPL 2016 event to win their fourth successive title of the Women’s T20 World Cup. They started the tournament with a six-wicket win over the Proteas before getting beaten by New Zealand at the same venue. Once they moved to the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, they got back to the winning route in the 124-run chase by nine wickets.

They earned the major boost with the seven-wicket win over Ireland when they completed the chase in just 13.2 overs. In Delhi, they handed England another defeat in the knockouts but couldn’t get over the line at the Eden Gardens in the final against the West Indies.

Not winning the event in 2016 seemed to be a wound for the Lanning-led side, who smashed Pakistan for a 52-run win in Guyana to start the 2018 edition. After a nine-wicket victory against Ireland at the same venue, they won the clash against the White Ferns by 33 runs.

At the Providence Stadium, they were bundled out for 119 to lose the contest against India by 48 runs. But that didn’t break their confidence as they knocked out the defending champions in Antigua with a 71-run win.

#9 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in UAE

Australia faced a transition at that time, with Healy taking over the reins. But they didn’t lose a single contest of the group stage, starting from the six-wicket win against Sri Lanka in Sharjah. After blowing away New Zealand by 60 runs at the same venue, they got the better of Pakistan and India

But surprisingly, their campaign ended in the semifinal against the Proteas, who completed the 135-run chase in Dubai thanks to the unbeaten 74-run knock from Anneke Bosch.

Australia Women's T20 World Cup Record — 6 Titles History— FAQs

<![CDATA[Did 286 runs really score off one ball in cricket history? Fact check]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/286-runs-one-ball-1894-cricket-fact-check/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/286-runs-one-ball-1894-cricket-fact-check/ Thu, 18 Jun 2026 22:34:53 GMT

If one searches the most runs being scored in one delivery of the game, the Google will show that 286 runs were scored off just one delivery in Australia, which sounds a very crazy record of the game as the match was played in the late 1800s. A batter can at most hit a six and get a free hit and smash another six on the that ball. But 286 runs sound unbelievable.

Cricket has served to be on of the most entertaining spots of the world. Although it’s not famous in most of the commonwealth countries, the game has its fair share of the shocking records and renowned events lie the Indian Premier League (IPL)

Where did the "286 runs off one ball" claim actually come from?

In 1894, there was a match between Victoria and Australia. The batter hit the ball, which was stuck in a tree, as the batters kept on running for nearly 6 kilometers and collected 286 runs through it.

While swift running in between the two ends and a perfect partnership can maximum bring two runs or three runs in a game, it really makes one wonder how was it possible for a couple of openers to runs for three tons in just one ball.

It’s next to impossible to achieve. But the news was printed in a London newspaper, called the Pall Mall Gazette as the incident took place in Western Australia with a tree playing the main role. The paper was reported on January 15, 1894, as the game took place between Victoria and a scratch XI constituted of players from the neighborhood.

The Victoria team went to bat first. As the first ball was connected correctly with the bat, it went high into the air, only to be stuck in the branches of a tall jarrah tree, that was situated inside the ground.

See Also: Fact Check: Did India and Pakistan players fight during Women's T20 World Cup 2026 match? truth behind the viral video

As the ball was legitimately in the air, the openers kept running in between the wickets with the bowling side urging the umpires to declare it a ‘lost ball’. But the umpires refused to do so as the ball was pretty much visible right in front of him. They thought of using an axe and cut down the tree, but one could get their hands on one. People, who tried to get the ball back, kept missing the target, while the batters continued to run.

Finally, when the ball was shot down to the ground, the batters had run 286 times already. Victoria even decided to declare at this point, ending their innings in just one ball. They went on to win the game.

What is the maximum runs possible off a single delivery in cricket?

There is no official limited limit to the amount of runs a team can score off a single ball in the game. On the other hand, hitting a boundary on the full is the most common way to score a six, as the batter can run continuously between the wickets as long as the ball remains in play.

See Also: Fact Check: Pakistan-origin USA players visa for T20 World Cup 2026 denied? Know the truth

The maximum is practically decided by how quickly the fielding team can retrieve the ball. The umpires, however, at any point, can call the ball dead if it’s lost. In India, a few years ago, the batter hit the ball, which was lost under the covers as the umpires were quick to call it a dead ball.

While a standard maximum six applies in most cases, the higher numbers are possible through the following methods of the game, including the running and the overthrows.

What is the actual world record for most runs off a single ball — and is 286 on it?

Apart from the 286-run story, the highest records runs being scores off a single ball is 17, which was achieved by Garry Chapman in a club match in Australia as it was documented in the 1992 Guinness Book of Records.

See Also: Fact Check: Did Rishabh Pant's shot really hit a drone?

This happened after the ball was hit into the long grass, and the fielders struggled to locate it as the batters kept completing the runs. Even eight runs were scored in a single ball of an official Test where the ball was smashed to the boundary, but an overthrow, deflecting on the batter’s bat, went for a boundary.

This rare event took place at least four times in the longest format of the game.

<![CDATA[Champions League T20 set to return in 2026 — Here's how IPL, BBL and PSL teams can qualify]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/champions-league-t20-2026-return-qualification-explained/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/champions-league-t20-2026-return-qualification-explained/ Thu, 18 Jun 2026 21:01:55 GMT

The Champions League T20 (CLT20) is set to return in 2026, more than a decade after the tournament was discontinued in 2014. Often compared to football's UEFA Champions League, the competition brought together the best T20 franchise teams from around the world to battle for global glory.

First launched in 2009 by the BCCI, Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa, the CLT20 featured top teams from India, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, the West Indies and other major cricketing nations. However, the tournament was discontinued after the 2014 edition due to falling television ratings and commercial challenges.

Now, with franchise cricket more popular than ever, the tournament is expected to make a comeback. If the league returns, teams will have to qualify through their performances in domestic competitions rather than receiving direct invitations.

In this article, we look at how IPL, BBL, PSL and other franchise teams could qualify for the Champions League T20 if the tournament returns in 2026.

What's changed? Inside the revamped CLT20 format and possible rebrand to 'World Club Championship'

If the Champions League T20 returns in 2026, it may do so under a new identity. According to several cricket pundits and media reports, the tournament could be rebranded as the World Club Championship. The proposed name reflects the competition's global nature and its aim of bringing together the best franchise teams from the world's leading T20 leagues.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, several influential cricket boards have backed the idea of reviving the Champions League T20 during the ICC's ongoing meetings in Singapore. The original tournament was discontinued in 2014 after struggling financially, particularly following the withdrawal of major broadcaster ESPN Star. However, the explosive growth of franchise cricket over the past decade has made a revival far more commercially viable.

See also -Champions League T20 To return in 2026 after previous edition's success: Know all about it

The new version of the tournament is also expected to feature several structural changes. Reports suggest there could be a more balanced distribution of teams across leagues, improved scheduling to avoid clashes with international cricket, and a stronger commercial model built around shared broadcasting and sponsorship agreements between participating boards.

One of the biggest challenges will be player eligibility. With many cricketers now contracted to multiple franchises across different leagues, organisers may introduce rules such as a "primary league affiliation" system or require players to represent the franchise with which they have the longest contract.

There is also a possibility that if two teams owned by the same franchise group qualify, only one may be allowed to participate. While players could be given the freedom to choose which team they represent, such a system could lead to contractual disputes, making player regulations one of the key issues that must be resolved before the tournament's return.

IPL, BBL, SA20, CPL & PSL: How each league's champions qualify for CLT20 2026

The proposed return of the Champions League T20 in 2026 is expected to bring together the world's top franchise teams in a single global competition. While the tournament's final structure is yet to be officially confirmed, reports suggest that qualification will be based primarily on performances in domestic T20 leagues rather than invitations or franchise valuations.

For the revived edition, tournament organisers are likely to allocate spots according to the strength, popularity and commercial value of participating leagues. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to receive the highest number of berths, while other major competitions such as the Big Bash League (BBL), SA20, Pakistan Super League (PSL), The Hundred and Caribbean Premier League (CPL) are also expected to be represented.

See also -World Club Championship 2026: Full list of participating countries

Leagues from emerging T20 markets, including the UAE's ILT20 and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), could also be given a pathway into the tournament through a qualifying playoff. This would help create a truly global competition featuring champion franchises from multiple cricketing nations.

Although the official list of participating teams has not yet been announced, qualification is expected to reward the best-performing teams from each domestic league. If the proposed format is approved, clubs such as Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Sydney Sixers, Lahore Qalandars, MI Cape Town and Oval Invincibles could all be in contention for a place in the tournament.

LeagueCountrySlotsQualification Criteria
Indian Premier League (IPL)India3Winner, Runner-up and Third-placed Team (2026 Season)
Big Bash League (BBL)Australia2Champion and Runner-up (2025-26 Season)
SA20South Africa2Champion and Runner-up (2026 Season)
The HundredEngland1Champion (2026 Season)
Pakistan Super League (PSL)Pakistan1Champion (2026 Season)
Caribbean Premier League (CPL)West Indies1Champion (2025 Season)
Qualifier Playoff (ILT20/BPL)UAE/Bangladesh1Winner of Pre-Tournament Qualifier

If implemented, this qualification system would ensure that the Champions League T20 remains a merit-based tournament, with teams earning their places through on-field success rather than direct invitations. The format would also guarantee representation from the world's strongest T20 leagues while maintaining a pathway for emerging competitions to join cricket's biggest franchise event.

Could your favourite team make it? Contenders and qualification scenarios to watch

If the Champions League T20 returns in 2026, qualification will likely depend entirely on a team's performance in its domestic league. IPL giants such as Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad could secure a place by finishing among the top teams in the 2026 season. Similarly, franchises like Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers in the BBL, Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Pretoria Capitals in SA20 could qualify directly for the tournament if they meet the qualification criteria in their respective leagues.

The race for qualification is expected to be highly competitive, as only a limited number of spots will be available for each league. Teams that consistently perform well in playoffs and title races will have the best chance of reaching the tournament. Fans will be keeping a close eye on league standings throughout the season, as every win could prove crucial in securing a place in what could become cricket's biggest franchise competition.

<![CDATA[Shree Charani: The plastic bat girl who became India's left-arm spin answer]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-analysis/shree-charani-india-women-left-arm-spinner-rise-story/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-analysis/shree-charani-india-women-left-arm-spinner-rise-story/ Thu, 18 Jun 2026 18:06:56 GMT

At a time when the India women were struggling to find a decent left-arm spinner, Shree Charani came as a solution to the issue. And she continues to show her skill during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 by being the leading wicket-taker with seven scalps in two innings at an average of 5.71 and a fine economy rate of below five at the best bowling figures of 4/19 in an innings.

During India's women’s clash against the Netherlands at Leeds in Headingley, Shree Charani picked up three wickets in the 17th over of the defense. She was even on a hat-trick and gave away just one run to pick the three wickets in the space of six balls. Aged 21y 317d, she became the third-youngest to pick 4-fer in the Women’s T20 World Cups.

The former Australia batter and current assistant coach of the Delhi Capitals (DC), Lisa Keightley, captured the incredible drive of the spinner from the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Every time in the nets, she would ask herLisa mamto let her bowl one more ball in the practice session.

The reel gained attraction when her impressive T20I debut against England in late June of 2025 saw her pick up 4/12, which became the best figures by an Indian debutant. In the two games that followed, Shree added four more wickets in the bag.

Her bowling has been so impressive that even at an average of just 21 years, she was picked for the World Cup squad in England and Wales, which was just a year after she made her debut in the shortest format.

From backyard nets to the Blue jersey — How Shree Charani's unconventional rise began

Shree Charani’s quick rise to the Indian cricket team had its roots in her uncle’s mid-day hobby of playing cricket. Kishore Reddy, her uncle, used to work at the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station (RPTC), which is nearly 35 km away from his native place. That’s a small village in Kadapa district, as he used to stay at his uncle, Charani’s father, Chandra Shekar Reddy’s place in the RTPP quarters.

Kishore’s routine was quite normal. He used to head to work at 9 in the morning, returning home at around 11, and then playing cricket till 3 in the afternoon, and returning to the office post the lunch break. They hardly had any wild dream of how the hobby of Kishore would turn out to be the foundation of Charani’s India dream.

When the youngster was in Class III, she began playing with her Kishore mama at their home with the plastic bats. It was followed by playing in the quarter grounds with the players way above her age.

When she was in Class X, Charani’s physical education instructor at school, Naresh, brought her to Hyderabad for the selections at the SAI training centre in Gachibowli.

She was very good at playing Kho-Kho. She also played badminton and did 3K running. She got selected there for athletics, and she used to practice. MSK Prasad (former Indian selector) sometimes used to come to the academy. When Prasad and others saw her skills, they advised her to pick cricket.Charani’s uncle said in an interaction with theIndian Express.

Why India women were desperate for a left-Arm spinner — and how Charani filled the void

Charani’s father wasn’t interested in her daughter leaving athletics and opting for cricket. However, thanks to the reference from a player at the GHMC cricket academy, she went to the former Ranji Trophy player, Marripuri Suresh, who was the coach of the academy at that time.

Moreover, the Andhra Pradesh-born, despite limited professional coaching, had superb consistency and accuracy. She used to bowl quickly with the tennis ball, as the Andhra head coach, Srinivas Reddy, was delighted at Charani’s ability to generate the same amount of pace with a short four-step run-up as the left-arm spinner.

At the age of just 20, Charani has already proven her skill to bowl across different phases of the game. It was an ability she had learned over the past few years under the guidance of Andhra coach Srinivas Reddy.

The turning point finally came in 2022, when she was left out of the U-19 World Cup squad for the Indian women's side. That snub lit up the fire within the youngster.

She played very well at the district (Kadapa) level. She used to bat at five and six, also came to bowl after fast bowlers were done, and even sometimes took the new ball. In her first year, she used to score 50s-60s and also picked up 4-5 wickets regularly. The Andhra coach added in the interaction with the Indian Express.

The spinner was picked up for the state side at the Under-19 level, and the Andhra team would go on to play the semis. And Charai’s sudden spike in her game caught the eye of national selectors in 2022.

The former Hyderabad women's captain and the lead scout of DC, Ananya Upendran, remembered being captivated watching the kid, Shree Charani, bowl during the T20 Challenger Trophy in October 2022, which happened a few months before the very first U-19 World Cup.

I was actually quite surprised she didn't make the U-19 World Cup squad. What stood out to me was her natural control and understanding of length, even if she was still figuring out how to vary her pace. Physically, she was tall and strong, which helped her generate that pace through the air.Upendran informed ESPNcricinfo about the Indian spinner.

How did Shree Charani perform in the WPL and domestic cricket before her India call-up?

In March 2026, Charani made her debut in the WPL for the Delhi Capitals Women (DCW) against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In the 2025 season, she featured in just two games and ended up with four wickets. That was the moment when her India dream was just a long-term goal, as a month later, she received her ODI cap from Sneh Rana in Sri Lanka.

Her fearless approach has always been her biggest strength. During the training of the WPL, she leaned on the calm approach of Meg Lnning, who spoon-fed her guidance with honesty. It was clear that the youngster slowly started to get used to the big stage.

On receiving her WPL cap from Jess Jonassen, Charani wasn’t nervous but clear-headed and focused. Both the Mumbai Indians (MI) and DC tussled to sign her and were eventually signed for INR 55 lakh.

Charani’s rise came at a crucial juncture with two World Cups to be played in a span of 12 months. She slowly started to learn the interview languages and the post-match commitments along with her special bowling performance.

The deliveries that made selectors stop and watch — Shree Charani's defining moments

One of the best deliveries for Charani was during the semifinal of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 against Australia at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, when she picked up two vital wickets of Beth Mooney for 24 runs and Annabel Sutherland for three runs.

On the final delivery of the 34th over of the first innings, Mooney got out caught at extra-cover as the batter fell to Jemimah Rodrigues. The batter came down the track and looked to go inside-out extra cover, but failed to get the proper timing and gave a simple catch to the fielder.

In the next over of the spell, the spinner dismissed Sutherland. The batter got forward to drive but couldn’t keep the bat down and gave an easy return catch to the spinner as India wrestled back some control with two quick wickets.

Charani has featured in 21 innings of the Women’s ODIs and picked up 27 wickets at an average of 38.18 and a decent strike rate of 40.2 with an economy rate of 5.68, thanks to the best bowling figures of 3/41 in an innings.

In the shortest format, she has added 35 wickets in 22 innings at an average of 17.28 and a strike rate of 14, with the economy rate of around seven.

That's one of the great things about the Capitals environment - you've got people like Jess Jonassen, Annabel Sutherland, and Meg Lanning, who are always willing to help younger players. Even if the younger ones are hesitant to approach them, the seniors often take the initiative themselves. That kind of culture really helped Charani.Upendra addressed the quality of the spinner.

For the 2024/25 season of the game, Shree Charani won the award of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the best debutant of the international cricket in the women’s game. That was a proud moment for her and the family.

Even though Indian women got their second successive victory of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 against the Netherlands by 95 runs at Leeds in Headingley, they remained concerned about their spin all-rounder, Shreyanka Patil, who was stretchered off the field after shockingly twisting her right ankle.

Questions have started to arise about whether Shreyanka will be available to feature in their next clash against South Africa, scheduled for June 21 at Old Trafford in Manchester. The bowler looked in a lot of pain as she held her ankle and was eventually stretched off the field for scans.

What happened to Shreyanka Patil? Inside her freak ankle injury vs the Netherlands

It was the first ball of the sixth over when the Netherlands batter, Phebe Molkenboer, clipped the ball to the leg side as the bowler ran after the ball to stop the single. Just as he bent down to pick up the ball return, Patil twisted his right ankle and fell immediately.

The spinner was seen to be clutching her right ankle as the Indian team’s physiotherapist rushed out in the middle. But the bowler couldn’t put weight on her right leg while trying to stand up with some help. Later, Patil was taken off the stretcher and went off the field.

The opening batter of the blue brigade, Shafali Verma, completed the rest of the over. These kinds of injuries can rule a player out of a competition due to a long recovery process.

Shreyanka Patil injury latest: scan results, recovery timeline & BCCI update

This injury could prove to be a significant setback for the Indian side. The reports have revealed that she was taken to the hospital for scans, with further treatment decisions to be made once the results are known. What happened to her was really unfortunate, given the form she has shown since returning to international cricket.

Patil had been out of action for long periods in 2024 and 2025 due to multiple injuries. It started in July 2024 with a finger fracture on her left hand, which was followed by shin splints in both legs and a stress reaction in her wrist.

She gained full fitness in September 2025 when he featured for Barbados Royals in the Women’s CPL, followed by the WPL for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) earlier in 2026.

How India's spin attack changes if Patil misses the South Africa clash

Since her return from injury, Patil has been one of India’s most reliable wicket-taking options, especially through the middle and death overs. With a crucial game against the Proteas and Australia coming in the next 10 days, India will hope for a quick replacement of the spinner.

They have Radha Yadav in the squad, and she could be the likely replacement for the injured spinner. Or else, if they want to use some extra pace in the line-up in Manchester, then they may come up with Renuka Singh Thakur in the eleven.

India’s next clash against the Proteas will be on June 21, before they face Bangladesh on June 25. Their last fixture will be against Australia on June 28 at Lord’s in London.

During the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash between Pakistan and South Africa at Edgbaston in Birmingham, the former continued to experience some funny run-outs, and Nashra Sandhu’s runout would be in the history books among one of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 funny run-outs.

The Fatima Sana-led side found themselves under tremendous pressure when they found themselves five down for just 29 runs on the board inside the powerplay and didn’t recover from thereon in the next few overs to be reduced to 50/8 in 10.4 overs.

Watch: Pakistan's Horror running collapse that left fans in splits

Pakistan had some shocking miscommunication in the middle as they faced four run-outs. One of the most horrific run-outs in Pakistan women’s collapse was of Nashra Sandhu’s two-ball duck in the 11th over of the innings.

Watch Pakistan's funny run-out of Nashra Sandhu here-

On the fourth ball of the over, Nashra chipped the full delivery from Nadine de Klerk over the bowler and set off for a quick single. In that process, the bowler jumped and tried to grab the ball. The mid-on fielder, meanwhile, got across and fired in a throw at the wicket-keeper’s end.

Nashra was nowhere near making the single. Her partner, Fatima Sana, at the other end got a tangle with the bowler, after the latter tried to catch the ball and fell in front of her, making it hard for her to complete the single. Both batters were stranded at the same end, and Sandhu sacrificed her wicket for the captain of the side.

On the very first ball of the game, Marizane Kapp trapped Muneeba Ali before the stumps for the golden duck. Their top five failed to get a score in the double figures, as none of the top seven were able to get anything on the board from the batting point of view, as the Proteas seemed to be blowing away the opposition under 100.

But Fatima came to the rescue and smashed a fine unbeaten knock of 55 runs off 38 balls at a strike rate of 144.74, thanks to six boundaries and a couple of sixes in a vital 71-run stand with Tuba Hassan for the ninth wicket to finish with 126/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

New Zealand made a bizarre start with two successive defeats against the West Indies and Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Scotland earned their memorable win over Ireland in their very first game of the event by 40 runs by bundling out the opposition for 121 in the 161-run defense.

<![CDATA[Watch: Ashok Sharma's one-handed stunner dismisses Ishaq— IND A vs AFG A Tri Series 2026]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ashok-sharma-one-handed-catch-dismisses-ishaq-ind-a-vs-afg-a-tri-series-2026/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/ashok-sharma-one-handed-catch-dismisses-ishaq-ind-a-vs-afg-a-tri-series-2026/ Wed, 17 Jun 2026 23:13:46 GMT

After two successive defeats against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A during the Tri Series 2026 at the Rangiri International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla, India A needed a vital win over Afghanistan A to stay alive in the qualification for the final. And they showed some tremendous fielding performance to keep the pressure on the opposition side, including Ashok Sharma’s one-handed, stunning catch.

The Tilak Varma-led side couldn’t do well in the previous contest when they faced a nervy super over defeat against Sri Lanka in the darkness. Quite interestingly, they decided to leave their inform pacer, Arshad Khan, for this encounter to bring Anshul Kamboj in that spot of the playing XI.

Ashok Sharma flies to his right for a stunning one-handed blinder to dismiss Mohammad Ishaq

It was the fourth delivery of the 32nd over of the second innings when Ashok Sharma, the substitute fielder, grabbed a superb one-handed diving catch to send back the Afghanistan batter, Mohammad Ishaq, on 16 runs.

Watch Ashok Sharma's superb catch here-

Yash Thakur banged the ball short just outside the off stump as Ishaq looked to use the pace of the bowler and lapped it down towards the third man region. He hit the ball a lot more square, but failed to get the expected elevation. The ball looked to be dropping in no man’s land all the time.

But Ashok was in no mood to deny a try. He sprinted to his left, threw himself at the ball, got both hands, and completed an absolute blinder of a one-handed catch. He ensured that the ball didn’t touch the ground as he completed the action.

The third umpire, after a few replays, ruled the batter out in the IND A vs AFG A Tri Series 2026 as Ashok Sharma’s one-handed catch brought Mohammad Ishaq’s dismissal. That wicket had a massive effect on the Imran Mir-led side during the India A vs Afghanistan A clash.

India A get a 101-run win to seal their Tri Series 2026 final spot

Having put into bat first during the Tri Series 2026, India A posted a strong score of 319 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Their opener, Priyansh Arya, smashed 58 runs off 42 balls at a strike rate of 138.10, thanks to nine boundaries and one six.

Even their captain, Tilak Varma, and their wicket-keeper batter, Kumar Kushagra, drilled their respective half-centuries in the middle order. All of their top five got starts but failed to convert them into three figures. Vipraj Nigam clubbed 30 runs off 20 balls in the lower order.

In reply, Afghanistan A got bundled out for 218 runs in 36.5 overs. Only Bahir Shah smashed a half-century as none of the other batters could convert the starts into a big score. India A’s 101-run win qualified them for the final of the Tri Series 2026 at the same venue on June 21.

<![CDATA[Who is Arundhati Reddy? The MS Dhoni-inspired pacer who could be India's secret weapon at Women's T20 World Cup 2026]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-analysis/arundhati-reddy-analysis-india-pace-attack-womens-t20-world-cup-2026/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-analysis/arundhati-reddy-analysis-india-pace-attack-womens-t20-world-cup-2026/ Wed, 17 Jun 2026 20:43:16 GMT

MS Dhoni has inspired an entire generation of cricketers, and Arundhati Reddy is no exception. Like many young players, the Hyderabad-born cricketer grew up idolising the former India captain and initially dreamed of becoming a wicketkeeper. However, guidance from coaches helped her discover a different path. Former Hyderabad coach Savita Nirala and ex-India spinner Nooshin Al Khadeer encouraged her to focus on seam bowling, a decision that would ultimately shape her career and transform her into one of India's most dependable pace-bowling all-rounders.

Arundhati has come a long way since those early days. Today, she is a valuable member of Harmanpreet Kaur's squad and one of the team's most trusted performers in the shortest format. While she went wicketless in India's Women's T20 World Cup 2026 opener against Pakistan, the team knows the impact she can have on any given day. Her ability to deliver crucial overs and contribute under pressure makes her an important asset in India's campaign.

The 2024 Women's T20 World Cup showcased Arundhati's value to the side, as she claimed seven wickets during the tournament and earned praise for her consistent performances despite India's early exit. She was also part of India's historic Women's ODI World Cup-winning squad in 2025, further highlighting her growing importance to the national team. Throughout this article, we take a closer look at Arundhati Reddy's journey, her rise through the ranks, and why she could be India's secret weapon at the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup.

From wanting to be wicketkeeper to India’s pace-bowling star — Arundhati Reddy’s remarkable journey

Born on April 10, 1997, in Hyderabad, Telangana, Arundhati Reddy has emerged as one of India's most dependable pace bowlers. Known for her right-arm medium pace and fighting spirit, she has built her career through hard work, patience, and consistent performances. Since making her international debut in 2018, Reddy has represented India across multiple overseas tours and major tournaments, gradually establishing herself as a reliable performer in the national setup.

Reddy's cricket journey began at the age of 12. Encouraged by her mother, a former semi-professional volleyball player, she joined a cricket academy after regularly playing with her brother at home. Like many young cricketers of her generation, she idolised MS Dhoni and dreamed of becoming a wicketkeeper. However, former Hyderabad coach Savita Nirala and former India spinner Nooshin Al Khadeer saw greater potential in her as a seam-bowling all-rounder and guided her in that direction.

The decision proved to be a turning point. Reddy made her Under-19 debut for Hyderabad at just 15 years of age and steadily climbed the ranks. She became a regular member of India's T20I squad between 2018 and 2021, featuring in the Women's T20 World Cups in 2018 and 2020. However, strong competition from players such as Pooja Vastrakar and Shikha Pandey meant she often had to fight hard for a place in the playing XI.

One of the defining moments of her career came after she was dropped following a tour of Australia in 2024. Instead of letting the setback affect her, Reddy returned to domestic cricket, worked on her game, and earned her way back into the national team. Her comeback highlighted her resilience and determination, qualities that have made her an important member of India's pace attack and a valuable asset in major tournaments.

3 reasons why Arundhati Reddy is the most dangerous bowler in India's Women's T20 World Cup 2026 squad

1. She has a proven record in Women's T20 World Cups

Arundhati Reddy has consistently improved with every Women's T20 World Cup appearance. While she picked up 2 wickets each in the 2018 and 2020 editions, her breakthrough came in 2024 when she claimed 7 wickets in just 4 innings at an economy rate of 6.00 and an average of 12.9. Across four editions of the tournament, she has taken 11 wickets in 10 innings.

Those numbers show why India women's team continue to trust her on the biggest stage.

2. Her recent T20I form has been outstanding

Reddy's overall WT20I record stands at 48 wickets in 53 matches, but her performances in recent seasons have been especially encouraging. After returning to the national side, she picked up 10 wickets in 2024, followed by 9 wickets in 2025 and 11 wickets in 2026. Her career-best figures of 4/22 also came this year.

3. Experience across franchise and international cricket

Reddy's experience goes far beyond international cricket. She has played 27 WPL matches and represented both Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Her best WPL season came in 2023/24 when she took 8 wickets in 9 matches at an economy rate of 7.62. She was also part of the Delhi Capitals teams that reached three consecutive WPL finals and India's historic ODI World Cup-winning squad in 2025.

With World Cup experience, 48 WT20I wickets, strong recent form, and years of franchise-cricket exposure, Arundhati Reddy has all the qualities needed to become one of India's most dangerous bowlers at the Women's T20 World Cup 2026.

Dropped, forgotten, then recalled — How Arundhati Reddy fought back to become Harmanpreet's go-to pacer

Arundhati Reddy's journey back to the Indian team is a story of resilience and determination. After being dropped following India's tour of Australia in 2024, many believed her international career had stalled. However, Reddy refused to let the setback define her. She returned to domestic cricket, worked on her game, and delivered consistent performances that forced selectors to take notice once again.

A major turning point came during the 2023-24 domestic season when Reddy left her long-time team, Railways, and moved to Kerala on the advice of former India women's fielding coach Biju George. The change proved beneficial. Along with strong domestic performances, her impressive displays for Delhi Capitals in the Women's Premier League strengthened her case for a national-team comeback. Her hard work paid off when she earned a BCCI recall to the Indian side in 2024.

Reddy's comeback reached another level during India's tour of Australia in early 2026. Returning to a country where she had previously faced disappointment, the Hyderabad pacer produced the best performances of her international career. She finished as the leading wicket-taker in the three-match T20I series with eight wickets at an average of 10.87 and an economy rate of 7.25.

In the opening T20I in Sydney, she registered career-best figures of 4/22 and was named Player of the Match after helping India secure a rain-affected victory. She followed it up with figures of 2/30 in Canberra and 2/35 in Adelaide, including the crucial wicket of Ashleigh Gardner, as India sealed a historic T20I series win on Australian soil.

Her outstanding performances were recognised on March 22, 2026, when she was named the ICC Women's Player of the Month for February 2026—the first ICC monthly award of her career. Reflecting on the achievement, Reddy said that contributing to a series victory in Australia made the honour even more special. From being dropped and overlooked to becoming one of Harmanpreet Kaur's most trusted pace bowlers, Reddy's comeback has been one of the most inspiring stories in Indian women's cricket.

<![CDATA[Top 5 fastest ODI hundreds ever scored by an Indian captain — Ranked by balls faced]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-stats/fastest-odi-centuries-indian-captains-balls-list/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-stats/fastest-odi-centuries-indian-captains-balls-list/ Wed, 17 Jun 2026 20:35:10 GMT

Scoring fastest hundreds in the ODIs isn’t an easy job. A batter will need to start aggressively, coming early in the innings and taking advantage of the first 10 overs, where only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard ring. India’s current captain of the ODIs, Shubman Gill, gets his name in the fifth position of the list as the Indian captain.

The 50-over formats always provide the best chance for batters to take their time in an innings, get settled as per the surface, conditions, and the opposition for the game, and then show their natural approach with the bat. For the top order batters, it becomes easier to tackle the situation.

Gill has been in tremendous form in the last couple of weeks. During the second qualifier of the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 for the Gujarat Titans (GT) against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, the right-handed batter smashed a fine century to shoulder his side to their third final.

A week after the end of the tournament, he led the Indian side in the one-off Test against Afghanistan at the same venue and cracked a dashing knock of 126 runs to contribute to their biggest win in the history of red-ball cricket.

The Punjab-born followed it up with an unbeaten knock of 84 runs against the same opposition in Dharamsala during the opening ODI of the three-match series before smashing a fine knock of 154 runs off just 110 balls at a strike rate of 140, thanks to 22 boundaries and a pair of sixes.

At the start of his career, Gill wasn’t renowned for showing his aggressive batting. But over the years, as the eras have changed, the right-handed batter has developed his batting skills.

He got his name in the record book against Afghanistan through the supreme knock in the heat, the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, as the hosts joined South Africa in getting the most number (8) of 400s in the ODIs.

The full ranked list — Top 5 fastest ODI centuries by Indian captains in balls faced

India have always been blessed with their strong top order. They have several batters, who have used their aggression to smash the bowlers around the park in the ODIs and break some incredible records. Here is the list of the top five fastest ODI centuries by the Indian captains in terms of balls faced-

#5 Shubman Gill- 77 balls vs Afghanistan, Lucknow 2026

With India opting to go with Yashasvi Jaiswal at the opening position with Rohit Sharma, Gill had to demote himself to number three. Walking out to bat in the third over of the innings, the right-handed batter broke the jail with a flurry of boundaries around the park and celebrated his half-century off just 38 balls with a massive six. It was his sixth 50+ score in home ODIs since Jan 2024 out of seven innings.

In the previous game, Gill became the second-fastest to reach 3000 runs in the 50-over format. He continued the same style of batting in Lucknow against Afghanistan and brought up his ninth 50-over hundred in just 77 balls.

That became the fifth fastest century for India as the captain of the side in terms of balls being faced. That was also the fifth fastest ODI century against Afghanistan as his partner, Ishan Kishan, found himself in the third rank of the list in just 71 balls.

Gill, after smashing the third fastest ODI 150 for India off 108 balls, was dismissed on 154 runs in 110 balls, with the help of 22 boundaries and a pair of sixes as the national side ended up with 402 in 49.5 overs of the innings.

Brief Scores- India 402 (Shubman Gill 154, Ishan Kishan 125, Nangeyalia Kharoti 4/76) vs Afghanistan 232 (Rahmat Shah 79, Arshdeep Singh 3/45) by 170 runs.

#4 Rohit Sharma- 76 balls vs England, Cuttack 2025-

It was the second ODI game of the series between India and England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The visitors posted a good score of 304 runs, thanks to a couple of half-centuries from Ben Duckett and Joe Root and a late flourish from their lower order.

India needed a good start and someone to stay till the end of the chase to take them home. Rohit Sharma provided them with an aggressive start inside the power play. He smashed his 332nd six during the contest to overtake Chris Gayle in the ODIs and never backed down to celebrate the half-century off just 30 balls.

Despite losing two successive wickets in the contest, the opening batter kept nailing the spinners and pacers around the ground, creating massive pressure on the opposition captain to make several changes in the field.

Finally, he reached his 32nd century off just 76 balls with a huge six. He soaked up the applause by raising his bat. There was a lot of criticism going around due to his poor form in the longest format, but once it came to the ODIs, Rohit showed his class. He was dismissed for 119 runs off 90 balls at a strike rate of 132.22, thanks to 12 boundaries and seven sixes.

It was good, really enjoyed being out there, scoring some runs for the team. Important game, series on the line. I broke it into pieces how I wanted to bat. It's a format that is longer than T20 cricket and a lot shorter than Tests. The former Indian ODI captain expressed.

Brief Scores- India 308/6 (Rohit 119, Shubman Gill 60, Jamie Overton 2/27) beat England 304 (Joe Root 69, Ben Duckett 65, Ravindra Jadeja 3/35) by four wickets.

#3 Virat Kohli- 76 balls vs Sri Lanka, Colombo 2017

It was the fourth ODI of the five-match series in 2017 between Sri Lanka and India at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The visitors didn’t make a great start with the bat, losing Shikhar Dhawan on the ninth delivery of the innings. Walking at number three, Virat Kohli looked to be on a mission.

The right-handed batter put his feet on the accelerator early and celebrated his half-century off just 38 balls with a single as Rohit was only on 20 off 22 balls by then. Akila Dhananjaya put the Indian batting line-up under pressure on many occasions of the series, but Kohli’s eyes were telling a story.

It took the then Indian captain only 76 balls to reach his 29th ODI century with a boundary into the on-side as he raised his bat to thank the crowd. The veteran ended up with 131 runs off just 96 balls at a strike rate of 136.46, thanks to 17 boundaries and two sixes.

It was one of the good games for us. We spoke about not getting complacent at any stage, and today was a clinical performance. Today was about doing things the way we wanted to do, and I think it is a very satisfying day.Kohli noted at the end of the game.

Brief Scores- 375/5 (Virat Kohli 131, Rohit Sharma 104, Angelo Matthew 2/24) beat Sri Lanka 207 (Angelo Matthews 70, Kuldeep Yadav 2/31) by 168 runs.

#2 Virender Sehwag- 69 balls vs West Indies, Indore 2011

It was the famous ODI encounter between India and the West Indies in 2011 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, where the former Indian opening batter and the captain of the side for the game, Virender Sehwag, celebrated a double-hundred in the 50-over game.

It was only the second such score back then, followed by Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved the landmark in 2010 at Gwalior. Sehwag smashed the pacers, including Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul, around the ground and celebrated his century off just 69 balls. That was the fastest century by an Indian captain during that period.

The Delhi-born ended up with 219 runs off just 149 balls at a strike rate of 146.98 with the help of 25 boundaries and seven sixes as India posted a huge score of 418/5 and earned a huge win by 153 runs.

Brief Scores- India 418/5 (Virender Sehwag 219, Gautam Gambhir 67, Andre Russell 1/63) beat West Indies 265 (Dinesh Ramdin 96, Rahul Sharma 3/34) by 153 runs.

#1 Rohit Sharma-63 balls vs Afghanistan, Delhi in 2023-

It was the clash between India and Afghanistan during the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In the chase of 273 runs, the home side went off to a flying start thanks to Rohit, who notched up the joint-fastest 1000 runs in World Cups of just 19 innings. The right-handed batter celebrated his fifty in just 30 balls and continued the same aggressive approach.

In the blink of an eye, the veteran nailed the fastest century in the World Cups off just 63 balls. It was also the fastest century by an Indian captain in the ODIs as he followed it up with a six on the very next delivery. He was dismissed for 131 runs off 84 balls at a strike rate of 155.95, with 16 boundaries and five sixes.

With that century, Rohit went past Ricky Ponting’s 30 centuries in ODIs. It was also his seventh century in ODI WCs, overtaking Sachin Tendulkar’s six. It was also his 29th ODI century as the opener and the fifth fastest for India.

Brief Scores- India 273/2 (Rohit Sharma 131, Virat Kohli 55*, Rashid Khan 2/57) beat Afghanistan 272/8 (Hashmatullah Shahidi 80, Azmatullah Omarzai 62, Jasprit Bumrah 4/39) by eight wickets.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may not have made a big score with the bat in India A's fourth ODI Tri-Series match against Afghanistan A on June 17, but the teenage sensation still grabbed the spotlight with a stunning effort in the field. The 15-year-old produced a breathtaking diving catch to dismiss Afghanistan A batter Khalid Taniwal for 13 runs, leaving fans and commentators in disbelief. Many had questioned Vaibhav's fielding during IPL 2026, but this catch was the perfect response from the youngster.

The moment came in the sixth over of Afghanistan A's innings when Anshul Kamboj induced an outside edge from Taniwal. Vaibhav reacted instantly, diving full stretch to complete a sensational catch and give India A their second breakthrough. His sharp reflexes, athleticism, and determination turned what looked like a certain boundary opportunity into one of the catches of the tournament.

The video of the catch quickly went viral on social media, with fans praising the youngster's incredible effort. Watch the video of Vaibhav's amazing catch here and see for yourself why cricket fans cannot stop talking about this spectacular moment.

The catch that stopped the Internet — 15-year-old Sooryavanshi does the unthinkable in the field

The memorable moment came in the sixth over of Afghanistan A's innings. With Khalid Taniwal looking dangerous at the crease, India A pacer Anshul Kamboj created an opportunity that seemed difficult to convert into a wicket.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reacted instantly as the ball flew in his direction. At first, it looked as though the youngster had failed to hold on to the catch. However, he showed remarkable awareness and determination, quickly recovering as the ball slipped away from him.

Refusing to give up on the chance, the 15-year-old prodigy chased the ball and launched into a full-length dive to complete a stunning catch. The dismissal ended Taniwal's innings for 13 after the batter had already struck a four and a six. While Kamboj earned the wicket, the spotlight belonged to Sooryavanshi, whose exceptional effort produced one of the standout moments of the match.

Not just a batter anymore — Why Sooryavanshi's athleticism is making India's opponents nervous

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may not have registered a half-century in the ongoing Tri-Nation Series, but the young star continues to make valuable contributions for India A. In four innings, he has scored 117 runs, with scores of 14, 44, 21, and 38. While his batting has shown promise without producing a big score yet, his stunning catch against Afghanistan A highlighted another important aspect of his game — his athleticism in the field.

The spectacular dismissal of Khalid Taniwal served as a strong response to critics who had questioned Sooryavanshi's fielding abilities during IPL 2026. His quick reflexes, determination, and ability to pull off a difficult catch demonstrated that he can influence matches even when he is not making headlines with the bat.

As for the match, Afghanistan A won the toss and chose to bowl first. India A posted an impressive 319/9 in 50 overs. Sooryavanshi contributed 38 runs from 28 balls, while Priyansh Arya scored 58 off 34 deliveries. Kumar Kushagra and Tilak Varma also made 58 and 59, respectively, helping India A set a challenging target for Afghanistan A.

India A storm into final after clinical all-round performance

India A completed a dominant victory over Afghanistan A to book their place in the final of the Tri-Nation Series. After posting a challenging total of 319/9, the Indian bowlers backed up the batting effort with a disciplined performance, striking at regular intervals and never allowing Afghanistan A to build sustained momentum.

The only notable resistance came through an 87-run partnership between Faisal and Bihar for the fourth wicket. Bihar brought up a well-made half-century, while Faisal fell just four runs short of reaching the milestone. Their stand briefly gave Afghanistan A hope, but once it was broken, the innings quickly unravelled.

Captain Tilak Varma managed his bowling resources impressively, making timely changes that kept the pressure on the opposition. Spinner Nishant Sindhu was the standout performer with the ball and was deservedly named Player of the Match. Afghanistan A were eventually bowled out for 218 in 36.5 overs, handing India A a comprehensive win and a place in the final. Meanwhile, Afghanistan A's qualification hopes now depend on the result of the final group-stage match against Sri Lanka A.
