Since the end of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Australia have enjoyed the best win-loss ratio in the shortest format. Their W/L ratio of five is based on 21 victories in 27 games, which is the second most wins for a side in this period, after the Netherlands, who are at the top with 23 victories in 33 encounters.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will offer a great chance to these sides to display their potential in all three departments of the game against the strong opposition under pressure. The campaign begins on June 12 at Edgbaston in Birmingham, when hosts England take on Sri Lanka in the curtain raiser.

Australia have been the most successful side in the history of the Women’s T20 World Cup with six titles in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023. On the other hand, England, the West Indies, and New Zealand have won one edition of the tournament each in 2009, 2016, and 2024, respectively.

Top contenders to dark horses — Full team-by-team power rankings for Women's T20 World Cup 2026

Here are the team-by-team power rankings of all the sides from top contenders to the dark horses for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026-

#1 Australia- 10 WT20I wins in 12 games since Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Since the end of the last Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024, Australia have the best win-loss ratio of five, having earned 12 victories in 10 games. The Sophie Molineux-led side lost only clashes, both of which came against India in Sydney and Adelaide at the start of this year. It would be foolish of someone to keep them out of contention to win the Women’s T20 WC 2026.

#2 England- 12 WT20I wins in 20 games since Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Since October 21, 2024, England have gained 12 victories in 20 clashes of the WT20Is at a win-loss ratio of 1.5. Out of these, three successive defeats against the Australian side at the beginning of 2025, before they fell short of India on many occasions. However, at home, no one will want to rule them out of the competition.

Since the end of the last Women’s T20 WC, Sophia Dunkley is the leading run-getter with 481 runs in 20 innings at an average of 28.29 and a strike rate of 131.06, thanks to three half-centuries at the best score of 81*. With the ball, Lauran Bell and Charlie Dean sit at the top with 27 wickets.

#3 India- 14 WT20I wins in 24 games since Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

India, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, have been really good in the shortest format of the game since the end of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. They have earned 14 victories in 24 clashes at a win-loss ratio of 1.4, which is a decent record to have in this last 15-month period. They also beat some strong sides like Australia and England to boost their confidence.

With the ball, Shree Charani leads the chart for India with 28 wickets in 20 innings at an economy rate of 7.65.

#4 New Zealand- 9 wins in 17 games since Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Since the end of the T20 World Cup 2024, New Zealand havd recorded only nine victories in 17 clashes at a win-loss ratio of 1.28. The Amelia Kerr-led side, heading into the 2026 edition as the defending champions, will aim to put up a strong performance in friendly conditions with both bat and ball in hand.

The White Ferns’ leader is the highest run-getter of this period with 629 runs in 13 innings at an average of 57.18 and a strike rate of 147.30, thanks to four fifties and two centuries at the best score of 105 runs. With the ball, Amelia’s sister, Jessica, sits at the top with 19 wickets in 16 innings at an economy rate of just 7.16.

#5 South Africa- 10 WT20I wins since 21 games since T20 World Cup 2024

South Africa, who finished as the runners-up of the previous edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024, losing the final against New Zealand in Dubai, have gained 10 victories in 21 clashes since the end of the previous competition. They haven’t played many T20Is in the UK. However, they have the skills to challenge any opponent on a given day.

For the Proteas, their captain, Laura Wolvaardt, is the leading run-getter with 776 runs in 20 innings since October 21, 2024, at a strike rate of 48.50 and a strike rate of 143.70 with four fifties and two centuries. Nonkulukleko Mlaba sits at the top of the ladder with 22 wickets in 19 innings at an economy rate of seven.

#6 West Indies- 8 WT20I wins in 22 games since T20 World Cup 2024

Under the captaincy of Hayley Matthews, West Indies have been really average in most games since the end of the last T20 World Cup. They lacked a player who could play the supporting role to their best bowler and batter in this period, which has been a massive issue for the side.

Matthews is the leading run-getter with 781 runs in 20 innings at a strike rate of 131.70, thanks to seven half-centuries and one century, during this period, while Afy Fletcher is the highest wicket-taker with an economy rate of 7.12.

#7 Sri Lanka- 6 WT20I wins in 14 games since T20 World Cup 2024

Under Chamari Athapaththu’s leadership, Sri Lanka have earned only six victories in the shortest format since the end of the last T20 World Cup 2024. They experienced a losing streak of six successive defeats in eight games with two no-results before currently being on a five-match winning streak against West Indies and Bangladesh.

#8 Pakistan- 5 WT20I wins in 12 games since T20 World Cup 2024

Pakistan, irrespective of their men’s and women’s sides, enter the T20 World Cup 2026 as the dark horses. They can beat any side on a given day, but the bottom line reflects that they would struggle on most occasions throughout this competition due to an unbalanced side.

Pakistan’s captain, Fatima Sana, is their leading run-getter with 335 runs at a strike rate of 183.06, including a 15-ball fifty against Zimbabwe earlier this year. With the ball, Sadia Iqbal is their highest wicket-taker with 14 scalps at an economy rate of 6.53.

#9 Ireland- 21 WT20I wins in 27 clashes since T20 World Cup 2024

Ireland, since the end of the last T20 World Cup 2024, have earned the second most wins in the shortest format with 21 victories in 27 clashes at a win-loss ratio of 3.50. Between December 2024 and August 2025, they recorded 14 wins in 15 clashes and could be the dark horse in this World Cup.

The Nigar Sultana-led side have earned eight victories in 19 clashes of the shortest format since the end of the last Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024. It will be hard for them in the World Cup 2026, having not played against any of the clinical sides in the last 15 months.

Sobhana Mostary is the leading run-getter with 493 runs in 19 innings of the duration at a strike rate of 122.94. Their captain showed consistency with five fifties in 20 innings, while with the ball, Rabeya Khan is the highest wicket-taker with 16 scalps in 16 innings at an economy rate of 6.25.

#11 Scotland- 16 WT20I wins in 21 games since T20 World Cup 2024

Experienced all-rounder Kathryn Bryce will lead the Scotland side during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. They earned an eight-match winning streak in Bangkok and showed their strength, having earned 16 wins in 21 games since the last T20 World Cup 2024.

For Scotland, Darcey Carter is the leading run-getter with 518 runs in 21 innings with the help of six half-centuries, which is a tremendous effort. In the bowling department, Katherine Fraser is the leading wicket-taker of this period, with 19 wickets jointly with Abtaha Maqsood.
